The upcoming feature film reboot of the Fox Kids series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a major departure from the original series. It is essentially a total reimagining featuring a much darker and more mature take as opposed to the colorful and campy children’s series.

Power Rangers Now has reported that the film has officially received a PG-13 rating. As we have seen the in the trailer, the film with real teenage issues such as bullying as the characters struggle to find their place in the world.

After an incredible teaser trailer that got the world’s attention, myself and many fans have begun to temper their excitement having yet to see a full trailer that features the Rangers in their full suits and in action with their Zords with only two months left to go until the film’s release. But chances Lionsgate is saving the premiere of the official trailer until the Superbowl when they’ll have the chance to capture the world’s attention once more.

Power Rangers hits theaters on March 24, 2017.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott (Red Ranger), RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston (Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart (Pink Ranger), Becky G as Trini Kwan (Yellow Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor (Black Ranger), Bill Hader as Alpha 5, Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

New 24: Legacy Trailer Features The Return of Tony Almeida

Screen Shot 2017-01-08 at 2.53.14 PM.png

In just a few weeks, the pulse-pounding real-time format series 24 returns to Fox in the form of a reboot titled 24: Legacy starring Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton).

The latest trailer for the series features the return of the return of the former head of CTU turned terrorist Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard). Executive Producer Manny Coto stressed in a recent interview with EW that new viewers won’t need to have seen the previous series, however, Tony’s troubled past will come into play:

This is just a character who has a certain past we need to explicate. And Tony’s dark past comes back to haunt Rebecca in some way.”

Tony was last seen in prison on the special features for 24: Live Another Day in a short film pleading for his release from prison so that he could make up for his sins. The short film closed ominously as Tony looked through a pair of spyglasses (slipped to him by the DOJ), mapping his escape route out of prison but it seems he never made his way out.

The clock resets Sunday, February 5th after the Superbowl.

Duffer Brothers Score DGA Nomination For ‘Stranger Things’

The Directors Guild of America nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in TV, Commercials and Documentary Films for its 69th annual DGA Awards have been unveiled. The list includes Matt and Ross Duffer A.K.A. The Duffer Brothers for the extraordinary work on the Netflix smash hit Stranger Things. The Duffer Brothers resurrected the visual storytelling styles of cinema from the 70’s and 80’s with their homage to the magical films from Steven Spielberg and novels by Stephen King.

The DGA nominees for Dramatic Series include:

THE DUFFER BROTHERS
Stranger Things, “Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers” (Netflix)

RYAN MURPHY
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, “From the Ashes of Tragedy” (FX)

JONATHAN NOLAN
Westworld, “The Original” (HBO)

MIGUEL SAPOCHNIK
Game of Thrones, “The Battle of the Bastards” (HBO)

JOHN SINGLETON
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, “The Race Card” (FX)

While I would love to see the Duffers win and I think they deserve all the awards for their work, I think Miguel Sapochnik will just barely edge them out as “The Battle of the Bastards” featured the greatest medieval battle sequence in the history of film and television.

Tom Holland Confirms Spider-Man Will Appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Coming as no great surprise, the appearance of Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War has been confirmed by the actor behind the web-slinger himself, Tom Holland.

Tweets from twitter account TomHollandItaly reveal snapshots from an interview with Holland telling Vogue Magazine:

“It is they who convinced the Marvel (Downey and Evans) .. the producers wanted to be sure that I was the right person before you entrust three films over the next four years, including ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’”

The amount of Spider-Man in Infinity War is still unknown but after stealing the show in Captain America: Civil War, the character obviously gels incredibly well with the Avengers and it would be a mistake not to include him in what will undoubtedly be the biggest Marvel movie of all time. The film is currently rolling into production and slated to hit theaters May 4, 2018.

Woody Harrelson Officially Joins Young Han Solo Movie

Just last week, THR reported Woody Harrelson was in talks with Lucasfilm to join the Young Han Solo standalone feature which will begin filming next month at Pinewood studios. Lucasfilm has now confirmed Harrelson has indeed been cast in the project. His role, however, is still unknown but the rumor is that Harrelson will play a character that serves as a mentor to the young Solo played by Alden Ehrenreich.

A post shared by Star Wars (@starwars) on

The film’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller released a statement regarding the casting of Harrelson:

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

The cast also includes Donald Glover as the young Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke in a role that is still currently unknown. President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy has described the young Han Solo film as a western with a color palette influenced by the paintings of Frederic Remington. The script has been penned by Star Wars writing veteran Lawrence Kasdan and son Jon Kasdan. With cinematographer Bradford Young on board, the film has the potential to have a bold look and feel that could strike a perfect balance between humor and drama.

The Untitled Han Solo Story is slated to hit theaters May 25, 2018, however, there is a rumor the film could be shifted to Holiday 2018. MakingStarWars.net claims to have a source in the theater industry that has received a release date for a Star Wars film on December 13, 2018. While May was the home of Star Wars for many decades, Star Wars has become part of the holiday season in the new era of the franchise.

‘Wonder Woman’ Villain Confirmed to be Ares

screen-shot-2016-12-19-at-3-53-55-pm

Until now, the main villain for the upcoming film Wonder Woman has been a mystery. A batch of scans from an article about the film by the French publication Studio Ciné Live has hit the web thanks to the website Les Toiles Héroïques.

Studio Ciné Live visited the set of Wonder Woman last April and now seems to confirm that Ares as the main villain in the film.

A translation from the article reads:

Behind these scientific formulas, there is a deadly gas that could well annihilate humanity. Now, it turns out that this is precisely the goal of Ares, the god of war. He is jealous of humanity, which is a creation of his father, the deceased Zeus (he was killed by Ares when he rebelled against his son, despite the help of the Amazons)…

Wonder Woman hit theaters June 9, 2017.

The film stars Gal Gadot in the titular role as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope and Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta. Written by Alan Heinberg and Geoff Johns. Directed by Patty Jenkins.

“’Wonder Woman’ hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
