Breakout indie-star Brit Marling (Another Earth) is back re-teaming with The East and Sound of my Voice director Zal Batmanglij in the new Netflix original series The OA.

Like most original series on Netflix, the trailer has dropped out of nowhere without any other marketing or promotion. The hour-long mystery series directed by Batmanglij will debut with 8 episodes this Friday, December 16th.

The OA follows Prairie Johnson (Marling), a young blind woman when she returns home after being missing for twenty years with the ability to see.

From Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the visionary filmmakers behind Sound of My Voice and The East, comes a powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection and the borders between life and death. The Netflix original series The OA is an odyssey in eight chapters produced in partnership with Plan B Entertainment, Netflix and Anonymous Content. The groundbreaking series offers audiences a singular experience that upends notions about what long-format stories can be.
