Composer Clint Mansell to Score Live-Action Ghost in the Shell

Just yesterday the first official trailer for the Paramount Pictures’ upcoming live-action remake of the classic anime, Ghost in the Shell made its debut. Thanks to Collider, we have more news coming from Tokyo. Director Rupert Sanders has revealed that composer Clint Mansell, most famously known for his haunting score for Requiem for a Dream, has been hired to compose the score for his remake of Ghost in the Shell. Mansell’s most recent efforts can be heard in the devastatingly beautiful episode of Black Mirror titled “San Junipero” on Netflix.


The film produced by Paramount Pictures stars Scarlett JohannsonPilou AsbækMichael PittJuliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo with a script penned by Jamie Moss, directed by Rupert Sanders.

Ghost in the Shell hits theaters March 31, 2017.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotics advancements in cyber technology.
